About Mas Sauvy
MAS SAUVY is the heart of a domain about one hundred hectares in the commune of Villeneuve de la Raho, between Perpignan and Elne.
Founded in 1856, it is still a family business. You can order our Roussillon wines online or by visiting us at the property.
The Domain
MAS SAUVY, whose vineyard is composed of a wide range of grape varieties: Syrah, Grenache, Cabernet, Merlot, Mourvèdre, chardonnay, viognier and Macabeo, is in a process of reasoned culture and adheres to the Charter of winemakers independent.
The Farmhouse
The farmhouse is a large building, decorated with yellow and red, which is located in the middle of the vineyards and has a magnificent park with pools and a great diversity of trees.
The region
Situated just a few kilometers from Perpignan and the sea, the commune of Villeneuve de la Raho overlooks the Roussillon plateau. For many years the village’s activity was centered on wine production and there were originally just two wine domains, one of which was the Mas Sauvy.
This small commune owes its demographic development to the installation of a 201-hectare lake in 1977 which soon became popular for fishing and water sports.
Above and beyond the commune in which it was born, the Mas Sauvy is also a part of one of the oldest and most beautiful wine regions in France. With its diverse landscapes between the sea and the mountains, sculpted by the Spanish winds and mists, the Catalan Pyrenees offer a unique and rich diversity.
Tastings
Wine is an integral part of the Eastern Pyrenees region and wine tourism plays an important role.
Before introducing visitors to the art of wine tasting, its secrets, and its language, Mas Sauvy offers walks through the vineyards in order to discover this outstanding terroir and its history.
It is at the very heart of this idyllic landscape, at the foothills of the Canigou, that Mas Sauvy has crafted its vineyards with their combination of high altitude marble-limestone soils, rolled pebble maritime terraces and clay-limestone plateau. The landscapes' diverse influences intensify the aromatic profile of Mas Sauvy’s wines, whilst respecting its grape varieties and unique terroirs.
